3 Things That Will Help a Bride Prepare For Her Outdoor Bridal Portrait Session

When planning for an outdoor bridal portrait session during the hot months, here are three, simple things to ask the bride to do.

1. Ask her to eat and drink as normal

You read that right.

Eat & drink.

I've watched more than a dozen brides get light-headed while photographing them during their summer bridal sessions.

Of those dozen, five passed out.

In each case, it happened within the first 30 minutes of the session.

And it was all related to not eating and drinking properly.

When you communicate with a bride about her upcoming session, encourage her to eat and drink as normal.

2. Ask her to bring plenty of powder to help keep facial shine down. This is critical for a good shoot.

Even if a professional makeup artist has helped her with makeup before the session, the bride, mother or maid of honor will still need to apply touch ups throughout the session.

If she's hired a professional makeup artist for the entire shoot, no worries about this one.

3. Ask her to bring a light-colored sheet, preferably, white

This helps keep her dress clean throughout the session if she's standing/posing in a wet or grassy area.

It also protects the dress from potential damp benches or other surfaces she may sit on during the shoot.
