3 Things To Do Before You Photograph a Wedding

It's a given that if you photograph enough weddings, the bride and groom are going to be in your car the day of the event.

This happened to me 25+ times over the years.

Mostly, it occurred after we were at a location creating portraits following the ceremony. A bridesmaid or groomsman would drive the couple to the location on the way to the reception.

While I was photographing the couple, the driver would end up leaving for some reason and the bride and groom would hop in my car with me driving them to the reception.

Since this could happen to you, here are a few tips.

1. Clean out, vacuum and wash your car.

2. Pick up a few air fresheners

3. Create a Spotify list for the drive.

The last thing you want is for the couple to open the door and find pita chip bags, empty water bottles or baseball caps getting in their way.

It's their wedding day, so they deserve a clean car that doesn't smell like college.

And, it signals to the couple that you are organized

It's all about the experience and music can make it a good one! Create a list with energetic, upbeat tunes that will get the couple ready for the reception.

Once you've finished the reception and back in your car, treat yourself to a burger and fries on the way home.

You deserve it!

And toss the wrappers in the back seat to celebrate!
